Description
There was evidence that on May 9, 1964, at night, he entered the home of a police inspector, found a .38-caliber revolver in a drawer and took it away with him. On the evening of October 16, 1964, he entered a private home for the purpose of stealing. He first entered by prying open a milk-chute door and reaching through it to open the rear door. Once inside, he found an inner door locked, went outside, climbed to a second-floor porch, and went in through a window. He was unable to find money, and decided to burn the house down because of anger over the fruitless effort. He stole a transistor radio. He used wooden matches to ignite clothing in a closet, a bedspread, and drapes. He waited in the vicinity until the fire was noticed by neighbors, and then left.
